Bron Flickr Kees Kort Gotha LD 1 biplane trainer fitted with a 100 hp Gnôme rotary [1914] The first type in the LD [Land Doppeldecker] series of the Gothaer Waggonfabrik., which ran from LD 1 till LD 7. A conventional biplane trainer fitted with a 100 hp Gnôme rotary engine. In this first design the rotary engine was completely enclosed and an aircone was fitted. Probably early months of 1914. A development was quickly built which was identified as the Gotha LD 1a. This one was fitted with the mandatory German built rotary, an Oberursel U 1. The look of the design changed considerably as the propeller spinner was dripped and the engine was not fully built in.
